Robert Zemeckis‘ next film, Here, will premiere at the AFI Festival. The movie is another monumental endeavor from Zemeckis, seeking to tell an epic and intimate story (with the help of de-aging technology) about a family’s home through the years. The film reunites Zemeckis with Forrest Gump’s screenwriter, Eric Roth, and stars, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
Here will premiere on October 25th in Hollywood, California. “AFI serves as a valued institution in the important preservation and celebration of motion pictures, and it is an honor to premiere Here at AFI Fest,” Zemeckis said in a statement. “I hope audiences will enjoy the film as much as Tom, Robin, Eric and I loved reuniting to bring this story to the screen.”
The filmmaker will also participate in a Q & A at the festival covering his illustrious career, including Back to the Future, Cast Away, Used Cars, and Romancing the Stone.“Robert Zemeckis is, first and foremost, a master storyteller – and, uniquely, one who has spent a lifetime utilizing the latest technologies to tell the human story,” said Bob Gazzale, AFI President and CEO. “Here presents a profoundly powerful emotional experience while also bringing the art of film into the future.”
A Zemeckis film on the big screen is always something to look forward to. Whenever the director crafts a drama, like Cast Away or Allied, the results tend to be more than good. We’ll have coverage of Here from AFI Fest, so stay tuned.
Here opens in theaters November 1st.
