The Gotham Awards is one of the ceremonies to kick off awards season shows. It’s a bit of a teaser of what’s to come. The nominees are decided by critics, film journalists, and industry professionals. A few of this year’s nominees include Anora, Baby Girl, and Sing Sing. Thankfully, The Gotham Awards honors some fantastic work in horror this year as well, nominating Demi Moore’s transfixing performance in The Substance as well as director Jane Schoenbrun’s imaginative storytelling in I Saw the TV Glow.
From October 27th to the 24th, horror fans flocked to the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Year after year, the fest generates more love among the horror community. It brings together passionate fans and die-hard independent filmmakers. The fest celebrates a variety of horror, just in time for Halloween. Recently, the minds behind the Brooklyn Horror Festival announced this year’s awards winners.
The contest is called the Anora x KODAK contest. It will provide ten filmmakers the chance to shoot a short on KODAK Super 8 or 16mm film, in addition to mentorship from the film company. The contest is open to students and long-time pros. Simply pitch “Tell Us Your Love Story,” describing how you’d craft a love story on analog film.
This fellowship is a one month program. It’s to support intermediate bilingual (Spanish and English) editors. The mission is to sharpen their skills, make connections in the industry, and gain mentorship from pros. Three accepted finalists will receive a $15,000 USD grant as a financial support during the time of the fellowship.
If Andrea Arnold’s name is on it, we are watching it. The filmmaker behind American Honey and Fish Tank makes movies that feel truly lived-in, tangible authenticity to the max. Hopefully, it’s a hypnotic feeling she’ll capture once again in her upcoming film, Bird, which Mubi is distributing this awards season.
Evil Dead Rise, Late Night with the Devil, and Poor Things are a few of the titles to dominate this year’s Chainsaw Awards. This year’s show is now available to stream on Shudder, which continues to co-sponsor the vital horror awards show.

The well-respected event is scheduled for February 28, 2025, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills for the second year in a row. The 62nd annual Publicist Awards celebrates publicists, individual publicists, outstanding publicity campaigns for television and motion picture, journalists and unit still photographers.
Everyday is a day to celebrate set decorators and production designers. Now, The SDSA Awards for Film is officially open for submissions. The annual show celebrates Set Decorators and Production Designers for their outstanding achievements in the art of Set Decoration in Feature Film. Members and non-members are encouraged to participate and submit their work. Submissions remain open until December.
