NEON and Kodak partnered up for an analog short film contest, in collaboration with the team behind Anora, director Sean Baker and cinematographer Drew Daniels. They shot their fantastic film on KODAK 35mm film. There’s still time to enter the contest, which stops accepting submissions at 11:59 p.m. PDT on October 31st.
The contest is called the Anora x KODAK contest. It will provide ten filmmakers the chance to shoot a short on KODAK Super 8 or 16mm film, in addition to mentorship from the film company. The contest is open to students and long-time pros. Simply pitch “Tell Us Your Love Story,” describing how you’d craft a love story on analog film.
Vanessa Bendetti, who’s the Head of Motion Picture and Entertainment and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company, expressed her excitement. “We are very excited to offer emerging filmmakers the opportunity to create a short cinematic love story with support from Kodak, NEON, ARRI Rental and the exceptional Sean Baker and Drew Daniels,” Bendetti said. “The contest reflects Kodak’s long-held commitment to supporting the next generation of creators, and NEON is an important partner to Kodak. NEON’s artist-first approach honors their filmmakers’ creative visions, including the preference to shoot on film. Super 8 and 16mm are user friendly formats, and yet, offer all the process-driven and image-quality benefits of the analog film medium. We can’t wait to see how the selected filmmakers capture the theme of love in their own unique ways.”
Anora is now playing in theaters.
