The inaugural 2024 Gloria Schoemann Editors Fellowship is accepting applicants. The fellowship was created by The Latinx House, Adobe, and the Adobe Foundation. It’s named in the honor of Gloria Schoemann, the legendary editor behind Enamorada and Cuando levanta la niebla. She was a groundbreaking, Latinx editor behind over 230 films.
This fellowship is a one month program. It’s to support intermediate bilingual (Spanish and English) editors. The mission is to sharpen their skills, provide connections in the industry, and ensure mentorship from pros. Three accepted finalists will receive a $15,000 USD grant as a financial support during the time of the fellowship.
Here are the necessary details for eligibility and the program:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be fluently bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Applicants must be legally able to travel to, reside, and work in the U.S. for the length of the Fellowship. If the applicant holds a visa, the visa must be valid through the end of the Fellowship (December 2024).
- Nominated applicants must be an editor, with at least 1 (one) completed feature film.
- Selected applicants must commit to attending the entire four-week program; Program will be online and there will be a week that we attend the Adobe offices in Los Angeles. If needed, accommodations and round-trip flights will be provided for the in-person cohort portion. The masterclasses will be held Mon-Fri 10:00am -1:00pm PST.
- Applicants must submit completed work for review.
- Applicants of all genders and races can apply.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Program Timeline:
- Applications are due Friday November 1st, 2024 at 11:59pm PST
- (3) finalists will be selected and notified the second week of November 2024.
- The program will start Monday, November 18th – Friday December 13th (4-week program).
