Christopher Nolan is the most successful filmmaker of the modern era. His film Interstellar was originally conceived by his brother, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan, as a project for legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg to direct. After Spielberg moved his studio, Dreamworks, from Paramount to Disney, he dropped out of the project and the rest is history.
Interstellar is the story of a farmer and ex-NASA pilot who is tasked with piloting a spacecraft on a mission to find a new home for a dying humanity.
Released in 2014, it is debatably one of the finest films of the last decade that maximizes its sense of awe and drama on the big screen. The visual wonder was shot by Hoyte van Hoytema on 35 mm movie film in the Panavision anamorphic format and IMAX 70 mm. The Academy Award-winner starred Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and featured an early performance by Timothée Chalamet.
According to Variety, it was supposed to return in September but the rerelease will land two months later on December 6th with 70mm Screenings. The screenings are sure to book big crowds and wow audiences again. In a resume that includes The Dark Knight, Inception, and last year’s Best Picture Winner Oppenheimer, Interstellar remains one of his most emotional pieces of spectacle.
