October 11th, 1975 was the premiere date of Saturday Night Live. It changed comedy and television. The night was pure anxiety, drama and madness before the laughs, though. Jason Reitman‘s promising film, Saturday Night, depicts the suspenseful build up to the show’s premiere.

Saturday Night is Sony’s big awards contender this year. From the look of it, costumes, makeup, and production design look like great standouts. Recreating Studio 8H and all the colorful personalities working there is no small task. Additionally, the transformations from the actors, including Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd and Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, look as impressive as the period detail.
Saturday Night opens in theaters October 11th.
