The world of Blade Runner is expanding greatly with the addition of Oscar-winning icon Michelle Yeoh, who will star in Amazon’s upcoming series, Blade Runner 2099. Yeoh’s role in Ridley Scott‘s universe is unknown, but the star of Everything Everywhere All At Once and a long list of other action classics will begin shooting the series in Prague later this year.

Yeoh, recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor, is an influential artist whose presence is nothing short of magnetic. She exudes power like nobody’s business. The Brother’s Sun star will be directed by Jonathan van Tulleken (Shōgun) in Blade Runner 2099. Tullekenis set to direct two episodes.

Blade Runner 2099 is in good hands with showrunner Silka Luisa, the creator of the fantastic Apple TV+ miniseries, Shining Girls, a tragic, emotional, and thrilling piece of science fiction. Luisa can craft complex, entertaining characters and worlds. The combination of Luisa, Yeoh, and the director of Shōgun all make Blade Runner 2099 a promising series for Blade Runner fans.
